Anchors

Although not technically a sculpture, it is an assemblage of nautical significance. It was the brain child of Neville Atkinson and Greg Byrne and is constructed of one and a half anchors.

The half anchor belonged to the Harbour Board and was used to dig into the ground and take rope to the ships which were then winched in to the wharf. The other anchor came from the Tuhoe Preservation Society, but it is not known if it came off the Tuhoe.
